Clinical significance
Cases of pathogenic O. anthropi are rare.
Infections usually take place through the use of contaminated equipment, or in the hospital wounds obtained by the application of catheters and the like.
This is probably due to the ability to attach itself to plastic. The severity of the infection which then occurs is dependent on the host. It can be a bacterieëmie, sepsis, to cause septic shock.

BA: after 24 hours, the colonies are small, about 1 mm, and after 48 hours, they are big, creamy, smooth, shining, round and clearly defined.
