Clinical significance
Virulence factor is unknown.
Transmission probably due to exposure to contaminated instruments or solutions.
Catheter-related sepsis, liquor, wound and urinary tract infections occur.
Of this genus are S. paucimobilis and S. parapaucimobilis clinically important

Obligate Aerobic
BA: slow growing, small, round, smooth, sphere, buttery and sometimes mucoid colonies.
Older colonies have a deep yellow (mustard color) pigment.
